I did not watch the local news cast when I came home from work. I am trying to give myself a rest from too much racially aroused overload. I opted to play a couple of games and to take a nap instead.
So, imagine my surprise when I discover that an elderly woman in my hometown was slammed to the ground by the police. I learned about this incident on the blog Granny Standing For Truth. I watched the footage and became instantly angry all over again.
This is raw footage. Shot on a cellphone. There is some serious adult language being used during the video.
In all fairness I did look at the local coverage of this incident. The elderly lady had a knife in her hand. She was threatening to cut people in the parking lot. This woman is in her eighties. How much damage could she inflict in her physical condition?
The woman needed stitches in her head and it is possible that her hand is broken. According to the report from WCMH Tv4 in Columbus.
The officers who responded to the call are from Whitehall. Which is really a suburb of Columbus. This is a small police force with a big kick ass attitude. I know this from the few encounters I have had with them over the years. They have some really nasty acting officers. The back up force is from Columbus.
Was this much excessive force necessary? I question the arresting officer's judgement. It was obvious to me that this elderly woman was not a major threat to her safety. The lady has Alzheimer's Disease.
What has made me extemely angry is the comments on You Tube. No one is playing the race card but the A-holes who want to use this incident to their advantage. You cannot recycle the mentality of true trashy thoughts.

Good morning Ms. Lady Deborah,
For some reason I decided to read the text portion of your post first. I'm still disturbed by watching this video clip.
A woman in her eighties, threatening to cut people in a retail parking lot; previously diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease.
This is law enforcement? This is what's meant by "To Server and Protect"? According to Dr. Richard Weinblatt, "The officer did what she had to do." I have just one question, "If that were the police officer's mother, would I have been watching Whitehall's version of a WWE Smackdown?"
What is the new standard for excessive force?
I can think of a few areas of the country where that action would have caused a riot. What the hell is going on in America?
U
U,
I was stunned by the actions of the officers towards this woman. She wasn't being overtly aggressive towards the officer. You would think given her age and physical stature that an entirely different approach would of been taken towards this situation.
I'm just too through with this response.
This video was absolutely disgusting. She asked the woman once to drop the knife if she had bothered to engage her she could have seen that something was not mentally right but instead she chose to slam her to ground. Clearly they could not let her walk around with a knife, but she was not causing enough of a threat to force this kind of reaction.
I live in Columbus, too, and although I missed the news coverage on this, I did hear about the incident. Thanks for posting about it.
It has been my experience that the suburban police officers in many areas seem to be on some sort of power trip when compared to Columbus officers, causing them to be more likely to act with brutality or without sensitivity. I wonder if this is the case everywhere.
I am hearing rumors that this Wal-Mart will be closing soon due to "crime issues". Not sure if that's true, but I'm sure this whole thing didn't help matters much.
