My weekend began at clock out time yesterday. We are not due back to our portion of the urban plantation until Tuesday. Which makes a sista like myself very happy!
What better way to kick off a four day weekend than with some Old School Friday. This week's theme is: From group-to solo-to group.
My featured artist this week began her career as a member of a trio from out of Motown. This particular group set the standard for divas of that era. These sistas were chart toppers. And they were known for their big hair and designer outfits. If you're thinking my choice is Diana Ross-not the right answer! But you are definitely in the right camp.
My choice this week for OSF is Mary Wilson. That's right Mary Wilson of the Supremes. Girlfriend does not get the credit that she honestly deserves. Mary can sing. Whoever told her that she couldn't-is a liar and the truth wasn't in them.

Mary was a co-founder of The Supremes. Even though Barry Gordy tried to prevent her from using the name as she continued to perform Mary reigns supreme!

The Supremes were ultra-talented and gifted. Mary was good and Flo Ballard may have been even better if not for the tragic issues surrounding her life as well as internally with the group.
Always like Mary even though I was never a real big Supremes fan. She, imo, is one class act!
