OLD SCHOOL FRIDAY 06/26/09

REMEMBERING MICHAEL JOSEPH JACKSON (1953-2009)

Today's OSF theme has proven to be far more difficult than I ever imagined that it would be.  There are only a few artist that I truly love and firmly believe deserve the title of legendary or genius.  Michael Jackson has always been on my short list.  He will continue to be on that list as a dynamic singer, dancer and innovator.

Me and Michael have kept company musically for the past 40 years.

I found myself really groping about what selections to post.  There are so many songs that I've listened to over the years.  So many of my personal memories are mixed into those tunes.

So, I decided to work my way backwards. And I'm gonna break the two post limit.  I have to today.  Even though MJ's music will live on and my memories are still very vivid of those days. I find myself wanting to personal homage to one of my long term musical favorites.

My first selection is a clip from a live performance.  Michael tore up his dance routine on Billie Jean.  This clip features Michael dancing his ass off!

Dancing Machine-The Jackson 5

There was a time when there were no Black cartoon characters. The J5 were included on the ABC Saturday a.m. line-up.  Even though I was a senior in high school, I would get up and tune in.

My last selection is one of my favorite songs by Michael Jackson. That song is Human Nature.

Thanks for sharing your gift with us Michael. You helped to make some wonderful memories for so many people. May you rest in peace!

OSF is the creation of Mrs Grapevine and Marva the Maravlus One. Please visit their sites for the other participants.

Last week I posted that I would have the OSF participants on my side bar.  That had been my intention yesterday.  But after hearing the news about Michael's passing, I just coudln't get that together.  I will get around to it over the weekend.
