BLOGGERS UNITE:NATIONAL HIV TESTING DAY

Every 9 1/2 minutes someone is infected with HIV.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that one out of five people living with HIV in the U.S. are unaware of their HIV status.

NHTD is an opportunity for people nationwide to learn their HIV status, and to gain knowledge to take control of their health and their lives.

One out of five people every 9 1/2 minutes become infected with HIV.

Here is another fact for you to consider.Blacks are disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS. While making up only 13 percent of the U.S. population, they account for more than 49 percent of AIDS cases. AIDS is now the leading cause of death for Black women ages 25 to 34, and the second leading cause of death for Black men ages 35 to 44.(source)

Today is National HIV Testing Day. The National Association of People with AIDS is in the leadership of this latest testing drive.

The National Association of People with AIDS (NAPWA) is the oldest national AIDS organization, as well as the first network of people living with HIV/AIDS in the world. We believe in making a difference in the lives of our constituents. We do this by; providing information and resources; telling our collective stories in HIV from the past, present, and future; and being the trusted independent voice of people living with HIV.
