I find it rather disturbing that McCain and Palin would be against teaching children to identify inappropriate behavior on the part of adults. Sexual predators rely on the lack of empowerment to assist them in making children victims. I teach the subject of good and bad touches every year. It is important that our children be given a body of knowledge that helps them to fend off attacks. I believe that all children have to know what is appropriate and what is not.
This ad insulted the educators of this nation. We are the ones who deal daily with all manners of social conduct. Not talking about what is okay and what is not in the area of sexual behaviors is like putting our heads in the sand on the issue.
McCain and Palin both need to realize that this is not a new topic in the national educational curriculum. We have been dealing with children of all ages and backgrounds who have been victimized by sexual predators. Discovering that a child has been molested after the fact is painful.
The Straight Talk Express has become the Straight Lie Express. This is just one example of how McCain continue to flip the script during this national campaign. While he has declared that people are tired of dirty politics~he doesn't walk the walk of a politician who is actually aware of that.
Empowering our children to be safe in the society is just as important as any other educational skill they learn in school. Teaching children to say no to inappropriate advances is one of the first lessons that they should be advocating. Isn't no the first line of warding off unwanted sexual advances?
