What is really going on in the minds of the media? I have to ask that because it seems that personalities like John McLaughlin have lost their minds!
Media Matters is reporting the following story about The McLaughlin Group:
On the edition of the syndicated program The McLaughlin Group that aired the weekend of July 11-13, while discussing recent comments made by the Rev. Jesse Jackson about Sen. Barack Obama, host John McLaughlin said: "Question: Does it frost Jackson, Jesse Jackson, that someone like Obama, who fits the stereotype blacks once labeled as an Oreo -- a black on the outside, a white on the inside -- that an Oreo should be the beneficiary of the long civil rights struggle which Jesse Jackson spent his lifetime fighting for?"
Here is the video clip of that moment:
You can read the complete transcript of the show here.
Media Matters has an Action Call Posted Demanding that McLaughlin Apologize for his remark. You can link onto that page from their home page.

I had heard he made this statement, but it is different to actually hear it and hear him continue to pontificate even more to try and get the other panelists to give in and agree with what he is trying to argue.
I didn't like that the woman went ahead and that we are all "oreos". I think she could have defended herself and others (not that she represents all black people) by saying or asking something to the affect of "How do you go about acting white?" Because that is something I have never understood. How do you act a color of skin? And if what they are getting at is that white is educated, smart, reaching toward higher goals, then do they associate all that is black with being low-down, dirty, and uneducated saggin' people?
Thanks for posting the link to the video.
Hey there!
Thanks for blowing your trumpet about this!
It is amazing that Obama has NO PROBLEM getting on the news to repudiate remarks about Jeremiah Wright....his pastor of twenty years... but I don't see him stepping up now to express his outrage....
Hmmmmph!
I suspect that The New Yorker cover has obscured attention to this issue.
