Blogging For Justice 07/30/08

Blogging For Justice Against The Use of Extra Judicial Electrocution (Taser)
Today black bloggers join with other bloggers nationwide holding a Blogging Day For Justice Against Extra Judicial Electrocution (Taser)
A Taser is classified as a "non-lethal" method of subduing fleeing or belligerent suspects. Tasers deliver a 50,000 jolt of electricity into your body. Which renders you temporarily paralyzed.
When and how officers use the taser is questionable in my mind.

Barron Pikes Tasered To Death By Police

Tasered While Black provides information on a man who was tasered during a mental health episode:Many Americans have seen the outrageous police tasing and attempted murder video Imagine! Tasing a suicidal man and causing him to fall OFF AN OVERPASS AND ONTO THE HIGHWAY, in clear violation of tasing instructions!

This video shows a man being electrocuted to death while in custody. Please be advised that it is the actual footage from the jail. I have seen this clip and it brought tears to my eyes to see this brother murdered by tasering. (video link)

Under what conditions is it justifiable for a taser to be used?

A blind woman is tasered by police officers. (video link)
A traffic violation ends with woman being tasered (video link)
A student was tasered for wearing a baseball cap (video link)

In these three cases there is no obvious aggression on the part of the victim. It does appear that the law enforcement officials who are involved are agitated and aggressive.

Brutality at the hands of police officers has got to be stopped. We have to be actively involved in our respective communities to insure that the use of tasers does not continue to be a renegade action.

Check out these blogs: Electrocuted While Black and
Tasered While Black. You will find information, links and videos on this subject.

Not every officer is guilty of misusing a taser. But we have got to make sure that this type of brutality within our communities is stopped.
